Background of the Incident

Thamrong Hill, a resident of Las Vegas, has been formally charged by a grand jury with second-degree murder in connection to the death of influencer Anunya Sood at the Wynn Las Vegas. Hill is expected to appear in court on June 18, 2026.

Events Leading to the Tragic Overdose

Hill allegedly sold fentanyl to Sood, falsely labeling the substance as cocaine. This dangerous misrepresentation resulted in Sood’s untimely death. The influencer had traveled to Las Vegas along with his fiancée and a friend to attend the Las Vegas Concours d’Elegance, a prestigious luxury car event held at the Wynn from October 30 to November 2, 2025.

Sood’s fiancée was the one who initially purchased the drugs from Hill near the slot machines at the Wynn for $40. The group then retreated to a hotel room to drink. There, Sood placed the powder on a table, arranged it into lines, and snorted some of it. The two women also tasted the powder but did not inhale it. Moments later, all three lost consciousness. When the women regained awareness, they found Sood unresponsive with blue lips and difficulty breathing.

Response and Subsequent Developments

Emergency services were called immediately, and Sood was rushed to Sunrise Hospital. Police investigations uncovered additional drugs in the possession of the group, although these were unrelated to the substance sold by Hill. It was subsequently confirmed that the drug Sood consumed was indeed fentanyl disguised as cocaine.

Sood, an Indian national, was declared dead at the hospital due to a drug overdose as confirmed by the Clark County Coroner. Hill, meanwhile, had been taken into custody since December 2025 on separate charges relating to drug possession and larceny.
