Drake’s Gambling Habits and Significant Losses

Canadian rapper Drake, known not only for his music but also for his passion for gambling, appears to have faced substantial losses from his betting activities this year. Recent reports reveal that he has wagered vast sums but lacked success in his gambling ventures.

Newly shared information showcases the total amount Drake has bet and lost at his favorite casino, which also sponsored him. Previously, Drake hosted gambling streams on the Kick platform, where he placed bets on the Stake casino.

The data suggests that Drake’s total gambling losses in 2023 have surpassed $35 million. Earlier this year, he disclosed a single bet loss of $8 million, and during one four-week period, he placed wagers exceeding $124 million.

The So-Called “Drake Curse” in Sports Betting

Drake’s recent betting history includes a $300,000 loss on the US Open, backing Carlos Alcaraz against Jannick Sinner, followed by a $250,000 losing wager on the Baltimore Ravens in their game against the Buffalo Bills.

This pattern has fueled the idea of a “Drake Curse,” where athletes or teams he bets on are believed to be more likely to lose. This superstition frequently arises whenever Drake’s bets do not succeed.

Financial Implications and Industry Relationships

Despite the large figures linked to his losses, it appears that Drake’s net loss is around $16 million, likely due to lucrative promotional deals with casinos. Reports have highlighted that Stake, a crypto casino, was paying Drake an endorsement fee of $100 million annually at one point.

However, Drake’s relationship with Stake and its co-owner Eddie Craven, who also owns the streaming platform Kick, has deteriorated. Drake publicly criticized Craven for allegedly disrespecting his fanbase and restricting Drake from promoting his own affiliate links, which were a critical revenue source on Kick.

Following this fallout, Drake’s Kick account was subsequently deleted, marking an end to his official presence on the platform.
