Incident Overview

Donny Osmond and his production company, Donny Osmond Concerts Inc., are facing a lawsuit filed by a woman from Illinois. The suit accuses them of negligence and failure in proper hiring, training, retention, and supervision after the woman suffered injuries during one of his performances.

Details of the Injury

Joanne Julkowski claims she was hit in the back of the head by a lighted ball, known as a “Donny Ball,” which was thrown or propelled into the audience. This incident reportedly caused significant harm, including retinal detachment in her right eye that required surgery, as well as injuries to her head and neck.

The event took place during a concert in February 2024, when the stage lights were dimmed, reducing the audience’s visibility. This limited the ability of patrons to see and avoid the large illuminated balls moving through the crowd, increasing the risk of injury.

Compensation Claims

Julkowski is seeking $15,000 in damages. This amount covers medical bills, pain and suffering, attorney fees, punitive damages, lost wages, and loss of future earning potential. She also asks the court to consider any additional costs deemed appropriate.

Other Celebrity Lawsuits

Donny Osmond is among several celebrities recently involved in legal disputes. Actress Blake Lively has filed a $161 million lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment and a defamatory campaign by his production company. Baldoni has responded with a countersuit targeting Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds.

Additionally, filmmaker Tyler Perry faced two civil suits by former employees accusing him of sexual assault, battery, and harassment. These cases collectively seek damages exceeding $337 million.
