Introduction to the Catawba Two Kings Casino Project

The Catawba Indian Nation is preparing to unveil the inaugural phase of its significant casino development located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Tribe officials anticipate that operations on the ground floor of the primary casino structure will commence in February or March of 2026, marking an important milestone for this extensive project.

Transition from Temporary Setup to Permanent Casino Facility

This early opening represents a crucial development for the $1 billion Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort, situated near Interstate 85, approximately 35 miles west of Charlotte. This new gaming venue will replace the temporary trailer setup that has been serving patrons since mid-2021.

The casino’s ground level will encompass around 80,000 square feet, offering a variety of gaming options including 1,350 slot machines, more than 20 table games, and dedicated sports betting kiosks. Visitors will also have access to a full-service restaurant with seating for nearly 70 guests and a cozy bar area accommodating about 18 people.

Construction of the resort is progressing in stages. Upon completion, the complex will feature multiple floors including a covered parking area, operational support spaces, and a primary gaming floor located at the top. Additionally, a prominent hotel tower linked directly to the casino is under development.

Overview of the Future Casino Resort

Once fully operational in spring 2027, the resort will span roughly two million square feet. The extensive facility will house over 4,000 slot machines, about 100 table games, a wide range of dining establishments from casual eateries to upscale restaurants, along with various bars and lounges. The attached hotel will offer 400 rooms for overnight guests, complemented by large parking areas designed to accommodate heavy visitor traffic.

Broader Tribal Plans and Governmental Aspirations

Beyond this ambitious casino development, tribal leaders are pursuing further goals including official government recognition. The Catawba Nation has submitted documentation to obtain formal acknowledgment from North Carolina and aims to establish a state government office to support tribal members.

Moreover, the tribe is advocating for legislation in South Carolina to secure exclusive rights for future casino developments within that state. They have indicated readiness to pursue legal action if these initiatives face obstacles. Currently, attention remains focused on the upcoming opening of the first casino phase, which will provide the public an initial glimpse of the future Two Kings Casino Resort and signifies the commencement of a new chapter in the tribe’s expansive growth strategy.
