Board Changes at The Star Entertainment Group
The Star Entertainment Group Limited, a prominent Australian casino and hospitality company, has announced significant changes to its board of directors. The company is set to welcome a new non-executive director, while another longstanding member prepares to exit.
Bruce Mathieson Jr. Joins as Non-Executive Director
Bruce Mathieson Jr. will be joining The Star Entertainment Group as a non-executive director (NED). His appointment was initially proposed on August 29, 2025, pending several regulatory and ministerial approvals, which have now been fully secured. With these approvals in place, Mathieson is officially stepping into his role on the board.
Departure of Michael Issenberg
This appointment follows the announcement that Michael Issenberg, who has been serving as a non-executive director since July 11, 2022, will not be seeking re-election. Issenberg plans to leave the board following the company’s 2025 Annual General Meeting.
Statements from The Star’s Chair, Anne Ward
Anne Ward, Chair of The Star Entertainment Group, expressed her gratitude to Michael Issenberg for his dedicated service over the past three years. She highlighted his valuable contributions as Chair of the Culture, People and Remuneration Committee, a member of the Audit Committee, and his leadership role as Chair of The Star Brisbane.
Ward promised that Issenberg’s efforts would be formally recognized at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. Additionally, she warmly welcomed Bruce Mathieson Jr. to the board and expressed eagerness to collaborate with him as the company moves forward.
“I would also like to welcome Bruce Mathieson Jr. to the Board and look forward to working with him as we shape the future of The Star.”
