Brightstar Secures Long-Term Operation of Italy Lotto

Brightstar Lottery, a global frontrunner in the lottery industry known for its innovative approach, has officially signed an agreement to run the Italy Lotto. This contract concludes a competitive bidding process that also involved Flutter, a major contender aiming to acquire the license.

LottoItalia to Manage Italy Lotto for Nine More Years

Brightstar, previously known as IGT Lottery, announced that its Italian branch, LottoItalia, will continue overseeing Italy Lotto operations for the next nine years. LottoItalia is a consortium consisting of Brightstar alongside partners Allwyn, Arianna 2001, and Novomatic Italia.

Earlier this year, LottoItalia successfully secured the license to run Italy’s largest lottery game, overcoming strong competition from the Flutter-owned Sisal. The Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM), Italy’s regulatory authority, awarded the license to LottoItalia, allowing Brightstar to maintain its position as the lottery’s operator.

With over 30 years of experience managing Italy Lotto, Brightstar has solidified its role at the helm of the world’s biggest fixed-odds number game. The new agreement extends Brightstar’s stewardship of the lottery until November 2034.

Brightstar Embraces Responsibility and Future Growth Opportunities

Renato Ascoli, CEO of Brightstar’s Global Lottery division, expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for securing the operation rights once again. He emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing the player experience and expanding the lottery’s reach.

Ascoli highlighted plans to boost wagering through new player engagement strategies, digitize retail experiences, and increase online sales via iLottery platforms. Additionally, Brightstar aims to expand offerings in iCasino, sports betting, and other digital gaming segments in the Italian market.

We are excited to drive growth in Lotto wagers by introducing new points of interaction, enhancing retail digitization, expanding iLottery sales, and offering iCasino, sports betting, and other innovative digital games to players in Italy.
