Introduction to Boomer’s Sportsbook at Ojos Locos

The Ojos Locos Sports Cantina y Casino has recently introduced Boomer’s Sportsbook, replacing the former William Hill sportsbook. This change represents a fresh chapter in the casino’s betting offerings. The grand opening was marked with a notable event attended by North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown, who had the honor of placing the first bet at the new sportsbook.

Grand Opening Ceremony and Official Launch

Boomer’s Sportsbook celebrated a successful launch of its latest location, sharing the event on their official social media channels. The presence of Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown played a key role during the ceremony, where she placed the inaugural wager on the San Francisco 49ers to cover.

A video capturing this moment highlighted the mayor with her bet slip, underscoring the significance of the opening. The changeover from William Hill to Boomer’s was fully authorized by all necessary regulatory authorities, signaling a new phase for the gaming venue.

Alongside this change, the Nevada Gaming Commission agreed with a recommendation from the Nevada Gaming Control Board to impose a two-year limit on Fifth Street Gaming’s entitlement to revenue from the sportsbook. After this period, the casino operator must obtain further approval to continue receiving revenue shares.

Regulatory Challenges and Compliance Issues

The launch of Boomer’s Sportsbook occurs shortly after Ojos Locos faced regulatory examination related to compliance. In 2023, the casino experienced tax and audit discrepancies that drew attention from gaming regulators.

Although Fifth Street Gaming claimed to have enhanced its internal systems, concerns remained. Nevada Gaming Control Board Chair Mike Dreitzer indicated that ongoing inspections revealed additional breaches and insufficient internal monitoring controls.

Fifth Street Gaming has acknowledged these challenges and committed to addressing them, though they noted that fixing all issues might require some time.
