Brant Dunshea Confirmed as Permanent CEO of BHA

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has officially appointed Brant Dunshea as its permanent Chief Executive Officer. Dunshea had been serving in an interim capacity since December 2024 after Julie Harrington stepped down from the role.

Dunshea brings extensive experience to the position, having been part of the BHA team since March 2015 and previously holding the role of chief regulatory officer. His deep knowledge of the horseracing industry positions him well to lead the authority moving forward.

Upon his official appointment, Dunshea expressed his enthusiasm for leading the organization, highlighting the dedicated team and the promising opportunities ahead for British horseracing.

He acknowledged the current challenges the sport faces but emphasized that these difficulties have not hindered significant progress in safeguarding the future and wellbeing of British racing.

Additionally, Dunshea praised the success of the “Axe The Racing Tax” campaign, which secured a much-needed exemption for horseracing from the recent tax increase, marking a positive development for the sport.

The decision to confirm Dunshea was welcomed by BHA member groups as a move that provides much-needed stability to the organization.
