BetStop Welcomes Over Four Thousand New Users in Early Fiscal Year

BetStop, Australia’s national self-exclusion platform for gambling, has released its latest figures for the first quarter. The data highlights that lifetime self-exclusion continues to be the dominant choice among individuals choosing to limit their gambling activities.

Significant Growth in User Registrations During Q1

In the initial quarter of the 2025-2026 fiscal year, BetStop recorded 4,541 new user registrations. This brings the cumulative number of individuals who have used the platform since its inception in August 2023 to 49,382. As of September 30, 2025, a substantial portion, totaling 31,838 users, maintained active exclusion status. The remainder, approximately 17,544 people, either completed their exclusion periods or decided to end their self-exclusion early.

User Distribution Across Australian Regions

The newly registered users span across various Australian territories and states, reflecting a widespread engagement with the self-exclusion program:

  • Australian Capital Territory: 62 new users
  • New South Wales: 1,485 new users
  • Northern Territory: 31 new users
  • Queensland: 934 new users

  • Tasmania: 124 new users
  • Victoria: 1,147 new users
  • Western Australia: 461 new users
  • Total: 4,541 new users

This number aligns closely with previous quarterly figures, such as the 4,720 new registrations recorded in the last quarter of the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

Insights Into User Demographics and Exclusion Preferences

Regarding the age demographics of users, nearly half (48%) of the individuals choosing self-exclusion are aged 30 or younger, indicating a high level of gambling participation among younger adults. Those aged between 31 and 40 make up 31% of the registrants, followed by 13% in the 41 to 50 age range. Users aged 51 to 60 and those over 60 represent smaller percentages of 5% and 3%, respectively.

When selecting the duration of self-exclusion, lifetime options remain the most favored, chosen by 39% of users. Close behind, 38% of participants select exclusion periods ranging from three months up to two years. Additionally, 18% opt for a three-month self-exclusion period. Longer durations are less common, with 4% choosing two to five years, and just 1% opting for exclusions longer than five years.
