Bay Mills Resort & Casino Temporarily Closes After Roof Collapse

Bay Mills Resort & Casino, a tribal gaming establishment located in Brimley, Michigan, experienced a partial roof collapse that forced a temporary closure of part of its gaming area. The casino has since resumed operations, though the damaged section remains off limits.
Immediate Closure Following the Roof Collapse
On January 7, 2025, the Bay Mills Indian Community announced that a partial roof collapse occurred at Sacy’s Restaurant, one of the venue’s dining locations. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Emergency responders, including law enforcement, EMS, and fire officials, were promptly called to the scene to ensure safety and assess the situation. Investigations suggested the collapse was likely caused by broken roof trusses.
As a precaution, Sacy’s Restaurant was closed and the gaming floor was evacuated. Visitors and staff were directed to the Back Bay Grill & Games area during this time.
Casino Resumes Operations with Some Areas Closed
A few hours after the incident, the casino confirmed via its official channels that the main gaming floor had reopened. However, certain sections, including the hallway leading to and Sacy’s Restaurant itself, remain inaccessible due to ongoing safety concerns.
Guests were also advised to use designated walkways when moving between the casino floor and the hotel to avoid restricted zones.
The unforeseen incident prompted the postponement of a scheduled Comedy Club event, which has been rescheduled to take place on January 16.
Large Wins Highlight the Night Despite Disruption
Despite the partial shutdown, gambling activities continued and led to several notable jackpot wins on the same day. Among the winners were players who earned significant prizes on various slot machines.
