Atlas SEO to Close Norwich Office, Threatening 50 Jobs

Atlas SEO Announces Closure Amid Financial Struggles
Atlas SEO, a Norwich-based digital marketing agency, is set to shut down its office less than two years following its acquisition by Gentoo Media, an affiliate marketing firm from Malta. This closure puts approximately 50 jobs at risk, with the parent company planning possible redundancies.
Background on Ownership and Operational Challenges
In 2024, GiG Media acquired Titan, the parent company of Atlas SEO, and soon after rebranded as Gentoo Media. Since then, Atlas SEO has operated under the broader Gentoo umbrella. Despite efforts to sustain the business, Atlas SEO has encountered significant financial difficulties within the UK market.
Announcement and Immediate Impact on Staff
The decision to close the Norwich office was communicated to employees abruptly during a meeting. Staff were informed that financial pressures in the UK had driven this outcome, leaving many distressed by the news. Following the announcement, employees were permitted to leave work immediately.
Notably, the CEO opened a substantial bar tab at the Rooftop Gardens bar located on the office’s top floor, which reportedly reached around GBP 3,000 by midday on the day of the announcement.
Current Status and Future Prospects
Gentoo Media’s CEO, Jonas Warrer, acknowledged the ongoing efforts to stabilize Atlas SEO’s business but admitted that progress was slower than anticipated. As a result, the company has entered a collective redundancy consultation process to review the potential impact on its workforce.
All approximately 50 positions are considered at risk, though no definitive decisions have been finalized. Warrer emphasized that Gentoo Media is actively exploring other options and is committed to transparent and fair communication with employees throughout this period.
Until the consultation is complete, the company will withhold specific details regarding job losses or future plans.
