The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has taken significant steps again to clamp down on unlicensed online gambling platforms operating within Australia. The regulator has directed internet service providers (ISPs) across the country to restrict access to several websites found in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

ACMA Directs ISPs to Restrict Access to Seven Gambling Sites

Continuing its efforts to curb illegal gambling activities, ACMA has identified seven more online gaming sites violating Australian gambling laws and has ordered ISPs to block them. The targeted sites include Crown Gold, Maxispin Casino, Rain.gg, Didibet, LuckyBet, Malina Casino, and Spins of Glory.

These platforms were found offering online casino games, which are prohibited under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. ACMA warns that despite appearing legitimate, these sites do not comply with Australia’s legal and consumer safety requirements. Players engaging with these operators put themselves at risk of financial loss and lack basic protections.

Extensive Blocking Measures to Protect Australian Gamblers

Website blocking is one enforcement method ACMA employs among various strategies to safeguard Australians from illegal online gambling services. Since initiating blocking requests in November 2019, ACMA has successfully restricted access to 1,338 gambling and affiliate websites.

In addition, about 220 unlawful gambling services have voluntarily exited the Australian market following these regulatory moves. This latest wave of restrictions follows a previous round targeting platforms such as Slot Lounge, PokiesPro, Spinit, Betzillo, and FastSpin99.
