GM Drives Dow To New Peak
General Motors (GM) towed the Dow to a six-year high Thursday as losses shrank and overseas sales grew.
Apple's (AAPL) iPods and Nokia's (NOK) cell phones made lots of noise and plenty of money lately, but bad news from Intel (INTC) and disappointment with eBay (EBAY) frustrated the many tech bulls.
At 1:19 p.m. ET, the Dow was up 77 points to 11356, while the Nasdaq slipped 7 to 2364. The S&P 500 rose 3 to 1313.
Truckers, chip makers, utilities, health insurers, drug makers and retailers made up some ground on miners and drillers.
