Fever Rip Liberty In Outdoors Game

POSTED: 11:40 pm EDT July 19, 2008

(Sports Network) - Katie Douglas scored 20 points to lead the Indiana Fever to a 71-55 win over the New York Liberty in the WNBA's first outdoor game, held Saturday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Tamika Catchings had 15 points and nine boards for the Fever, who moved back to .500, at 11-11, with the win. The Fever persevered through the muggy evening at the venue usually reserved for tennis' U.S. Open, shooting 47 percent, including 50 percent (8-of-16) from beyond the three-point line.

Janel McCarville scored 10 points for the Liberty, who saw their three-game win streak come to an end. Shameka Christon had nine points for New York, which shot 28 percent from the field in the loss.
