Hammon, Young Lead Silver Stars Over Shock

(Sports Network) - Becky Hammon scored 10 of her 19 points in overtime, as the San Antonio Silver Stars took a 79-72 win over the Detroit Shock.

Ann Wauters hit a layup with 14.8 seconds left to send the game into overtime, where Hammon took over. San Antonio outscored Detroit, 14-7, in the extra period to take its second win in a row.

Hammon also contributed six assists, while Sophia Young led all scorers with 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Wauters finished with 17 points and nine boards.

Katie Smith had 17 points and nine assists, while Kara Braxton had 16 points off the bench for the Shock, who have alternated wins and losses for the past five games.

Plenette Pierson and Deanna Nolan each scored 11 for Detroit, while Cheryl Ford chipped in 10 points.
