Lynx Re-Sign C Johnson

POSTED: 7:16 pm EDT April 18, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Lynx re-signed center Vanessa Hayden-Johnson Friday.

Hayden-Johnson, who missed the entire 2007 season due to pregnancy, was originally drafted by the Lynx in the first round of the 2004 WNBA Draft with the seventh overall selection.

She has averaged 6.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 93 career games.

To get ready for her return, Hayden-Johnson has averaged 11.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in 22 Turkish League games with Besiktas Cola Turka. Her team is currently in the playoff semifinals.

"After a successful stint overseas, we are very excited to have Vanessa back with the organization," Lynx CEO Roger Griffith said. "The organization and our fans missed Vanessa's presence on and off the court while she out in 2007.

"Now that she is back on the court, Vanessa has worked hard overseas to get ready for our season in 2008. We anticipate that she will be ready to help our team when she arrives in training camp following the end of her season in Turkey."
