Mark Johnson

Mark Johnson became Chief Meteorologist in 2003. He has been a member of the NewsChannel5 Forecasters since November of 1993. His high-energy style has helped get viewers going each weekday on Good Morning Cleveland, NewsChannel5 noon, NewsChannel5 at 5 and NewsChannel5 at 11. He can also be seen weekly with Angelo Petitti on "Mark's Garden" the popular weekend show "Do It Yourself Cleveland."

Mark is an award winning meteorologist, having received coveted Emmy Awards for his weather forecasting and his work on the Morning Exchange. He also won a Broadcast Media Award for his news series "Prescription for Health." He was voted by Cleveland Magazine as one of this area's 50 Most Interesting People in 1997 and 1998.

He earned his Meteorology Certification from Mississippi State University in 1993 and his Bachelors Degree in Telecommunications from Kent State University in 1988. His credentials also include Seals of Approval from The American Meteorological Society and The National Weather Association.

He can also be heard daily on these great radio stations: Star-97.1 FM, Q-92 in Canton, 98.5 WNCX, and Soft Rock 102.1 WDOK.

A lifelong resident of northeast Ohio, Mark was born and raised in the heart of the snowbelt! When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Mary, and his three children. He also enjoys fishing, hiking, tennis and gardening.
