Curtis Jackson
Curtis Jackson is the weekend anchor for NewsChannel5 at six and 11. He started his duties in March of 2005. Before coming to WEWS, Curtis was the New York-based correspondent for BET Nightly News. While at BET, He was a finalist for the NABJ Salute to Excellence Awards for a series of reports on HIV rates in the southern states. The Kaiser Foundation awarded him with a grant for his coverage. Before joining BET, Curtis was the weekend anchor for WFXT in Boston. He anchored the station’s coverage of the crash of TWA Flight 800 and the death of several firefighters in Worcester, Mass. On Sept. 11, Curtis was sent to interview the victims' loved ones when two flights from Boston hit the World Trade Center Towers in New York. Curtis has also held anchor and reporting positions in Hartford, Conn. and his hometown of Louisville, Ky. In his spare time, Curtis enjoys playing with his son Tre and playing jazz standards and Stevie Wonder songs on the piano.
