Mike Stone
Mike Stone serves as meteorologist for the NewsChannel5 weekend evening newscasts. He also provides weather reports and forecasts for The Cleveland Indians, Cedar Point, 98.5 FM WNCX and 102.1 FM WDOK -- Cleveland's No. 1 workday radio station.Prior to arriving in Cleveland, Mike worked for WTAE in Pittsburgh.Before that, he worked at NewsChannel6 in Richmond, Va., and was also part of the city's No. 1 morning radio show on Lite 98 FM. Other stops before Richmond included Wilkes-Barre, Penn. and Lawton, Okla.While in Wilkes-Barre, a local community presented him with a "greatest forecaster award," and the television news critic of the Pittsburgh City Paper called him "favorite meteorologist."Mike graduated from Penn State University in 1993, where he studied meteorology and communications. Since then, he has completed additional meteorology courses and operational workshops detailing the latest forecasting techniques and technology.He is a full member of both the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA). Mike’s weather broadcasts carry the seals of approval from both organizations.Mike is active in the community. He works with the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure charity and is a co-host for the annual Boaters For a Cure dinner/auction in Eastlake with WDOK's Nancy Alden.His favorite authors include David Sedaris, Christopher Rice and Augusten Burroughs. Mike's favorite TV shows include The Late Show with David Letterman, Law & Order, Strangers With Candy, The West Wing, Food Network's Barefoot Contessa, and Style Network's Craft Corner Deathmatch.Mike lives on the west side with his family.
