Pete Kenworthy
Pete Kenworthy, a graduate of the College of Wooster, is NewsChannel5's "Good Morning Cleveland" anchor. Kenworthy joined WEWS from Buffalo, N.Y., where he was morning anchor/reporter at television station WKBW. While working in Buffalo, Pete's achievements included international reporting from Rome where he covered the death of Pope John Paul II. He also profiled local Marines preparing for the Iraq War during their basic training at Parris Island. Prior to his experience at WKBW, Pete worked at KWTX in Waco, Texas. Pete expanded and embellished the convergence projects between NewsChannel5 and the Akron Beacon Journal newspaper, enhancing NewsChannel 5's coverage of Summit County and the Akron/Canton/Medina areas. In less than a year's time, Pete was at the center of two different stories that received national attention as he covered the shootings at Virginia Tech and the murder of Stark County's Jessie Davis. A native of Philadelphia, Pete's undergraduate degree is from The College of Wooster. He said he is glad to be back around family and friends in Ohio. Pete earned his Masters Degree in television and radio from Southern Methodist University.Pete met his wife Julie, a Summit County native, while they both attended Wooster.
