A big part of NewsChannel 5’s On Your Side approach to news includes a major commitment to health and medical reporting. Alicia is the driving force behind that commitment. You can see her health reports on Live on 5. She also anchors NewsChannel 5 at Noon with Danita Harris.

Before her arrival at NewsChannel5, Alicia worked for another Cleveland television station as an anchor and reporter with a special commitment to breast cancer awareness.

Alicia is a native Californian, but has worked all over the country. Prior to Cleveland, she spent several years at WCNC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she anchored the evening news and reported for the 11pm newscast. While at WCNC, Alicia covered the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, and was working just yards away from where the bomb went off in Centennial Olympic Park, resulting in her being one of the first reporters to hit air with first-hand details.

She started her career as an anchor/reporter in Monterey, California at KMST-TV. She spent several years there as the military reporter, which included traveling to Saudi Arabia to report on the first Gulf War.

Alicia graduated from the University of Southern California with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and International Relations and a certificate in Military Strategy.

She is committed to volunteerism, and over the years has mentored inner-city children through the Salvation Army Boys and Girls’ Clubs, driven for Meals on Wheels, and worked with young children who have cerebral palsy.

She is married and has two step children and also loves to spend time with her dog, Charlie, a border-collie mix she adopted from Cleveland’s Animal Protective League.
