Father, Mother Sentenced In Beating Of 4-Month-Old

CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland father was sentenced Wednesday to 17 years in prison and a mother to 10 years in the beating death of their 4-month-old baby.Jalal Reed, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault and one count of child endangering. Danielle Worthy, 26, pleaded guilty to two counts of child endangering.Prosecutors said that in April, the baby lost consciousness three times during the day before Worthy called 911.She took the baby to MetroHealth Medical Center, where doctors found the baby suffered from several fractured bones, a liver laceration, retinal hemorrhage and bruised lungs.
