Sheffield Village Teachers Avoid Strike

SHEFFIELD LAKE, Ohio -- Sheffield Village teachers approved a tentative contract at about midnight Wednesday.That means there will be classes today.The Chronicle Telegram reported that the deal will be ratified at a later date.Meanwhile, parents were abuzz over a letter sent home with the children on Tuesday, saying substitute teachers were scabs.It also warned that students may not be safe with a temporary staff.Several parents didn't appreciate what he called a scare tactic.The teachers union said the letter was meant to be informative.
