We've all heard it. Eat healthier. You'll feel better, you'll look better, and chances are you'll be around longer to enjoy the results.Admittedly, that can be something of a challenge in a society filled with junk food -- and super-sized portions of them at that. The World's Healthiest Foods is a Web site that provides a wealth of information on good-for-you foods and their benefits."We offer practical, simple and affordable ways to enjoy (healthy food) that fit your individual lifestyle," the Web site proclaims. The site includes nutritional information, recipes and instruction on such topics as how to cook healthier, how to chose the healthiest foods and how to eat healthier. The Whfoods.org Kitchen comes in handy for the not-so-professional cook by helping with meal preparation, cooking and planning, while the site's Food Advisor gives users personalized information to help meet individual health needs. There are even cooking demonstrations and videos. Some featured topics include organic foods, seasonal eating, healthy diets and menus for the whole family, among others. There are also weekly features, such as the food of the week (green peas being this week's spotlighted food) and the food tip of the week. A Q&A section allows users to get their questions answered each week by a team of nutritionists and food experts. The Web site is run by the George Mateljan Foundation, a nonprofit organization established by Mateljan, a best-selling author and founder of Health Valley Foods, a healthy convenience food company.According to the site, Mateljan has "a passion for food that literally sent him to the ends of the earth to learn about it."With so many choices out there, it's easy to make the wrong ones when it comes to healthy foods. But this Web site wants users to follow the words of Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, who said, "Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food."
