Bratenahl chase ends with a crash on Crumb Avenue in Cleveland; Dajuan Fields, 28, arrested

CLEVELAND - An attempted traffic stop on I-90 near Martin Luther King Boulevard in Bratenahl became a pursuit and ended with the suspect crashing into a utility pole on Crumb Avenue in Cleveland.

Cleveland police say Dajuan Fields, 28, was chased from I-90 into Cleveland by Bratenahl police in a silver Dodge. Fields continued to flee for about five minutes in the neighborhoods along St. Clair Avenue in the area of East 72nd Street.

This all happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Eventually, Fields crashed into a utility pole on Crumb Avenue near Ida Avenue and ran off.

Bratenahl officers quickly caught him behind a house on Crumb Avenue.

Police were seen carrying a gun in an evidence bag from behind the home where Fields was caught.

He was transported to a local hospital to be checked out before being taken to jail.

Cleveland police were not involved in the chase, but they are handling the crash investigation.

Bratenahl police will handle the criminal charges.
