ODOT in Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga counties ready for more 12-hour shifts

CLEVELAND - Beginning at 10 p.m., ODOT crews in Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties will begin to work 12-hour shifts ahead of snow and ice in the forecast.

Meteorologists expect light snow to accumulate overnight and into New Year's Day.

Cuyahoga County will have 42 snowplows on the roads, Lake County will have 14 and Geauga County will put 13 on the highways.

Most areas, with the exception of extreme northeast Ohio, will see snow by 5 p.m. Monday. One to two inches of snow is likely by New Year's Day, with isolated higher totals near 3 inches. Temperatures are expected in the teens.

As a reminder to those leaving New Year's parties after the ball drops, make sure to drive responsibly and designate a sober driver.
