As the calendar flips to April, Mother Nature seems to be planning a last Winter sneak attack.
Current computer model guidance is hinting at some very cold air sliding south into the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley between April 2 and April 8.
Since this is still more than a week away, the fine details will obviously need to be worked out. But, suffice it to say, temperatures are headed BELOW AVERAGE as we usher in the month of April. That's also just in time for the Tribe's Home Opening on April 4.
The GFS Computer Model shows a large, cold weather trough dropping all the way south of the Mason-Dixon Line by April 4. This particular model (BELOW) shows temperatures across Ohio between 18 and 24 degrees BELOW average by early afternoon on April 4.
Average highs for early April in Northern Ohio are in the lower 50s. Average low temperatures are near 35 degrees. So, if temperatures end up 10 to 20 degrees below average for the first week of the month. That would mean highs in the 30s and 40s for several days in a row. Overnight lows could drop back into the teens and 20s. Brrrr.
Remember, computer models are NOT forecasts. They are guidance and suggestions for meteorologists to use to help predict the future. The specifics will likely change a bit.
The important point here is to notice the trend. And the trend is for COLD. Play Ball!!!! (Just take your winter coat!)
