Spring by the numbers for Northern Ohio

Did Spring seem colder to you this past season? Remember that late blast of cold and snow on May 16th? Well, Meteorological Spring actually ended up warmer for Northern Ohio.

The Months of Meteorological Spring are March, April & May. From March 1, 2016 to May 31, 2016.

For Cleveland, temperatures finished 1.6 degrees above average for the those 3 months. The 3 month average temperature for Cleveland was 50.9 degrees. The coldest temperature reading occurred on March 3rd when the thermometer bottomed out at 19 degrees. The highest temperature hit 90 on May 28th.

Precipitation was also above the average. With about 11 inches falling for those three months. That's 1.26" above normal. A few inches of that were snow. 11 inches of snow fell from March through early May. 4.6 inches BELOW average.

For Akron & Canton, the story is similar. Average temperatures for Spring 2016 finished at 50.9 degrees. That's 2.4 degrees above average. The highest reading was 87 degrees on May 28th. The lowest reading occurred on April 5th when the temperature dropped to 18 degrees.

Precipitation at the Akron/Canton Regional Airport measured 10 inches. That was about 3/4 inches below normal for the season.

The three month snowfall total of 7.5 inches ended up 4.5 inches below average for the period.

Mansfield saw a warm high temperature of 88 degrees on 5/28/16. That's the warmest temperature of the 2016 Spring Season. Compare that to the coldest temp of Spring: 16 degrees on 4/10/16. 

Precipitation finished about 1/2 inch below average with 11.5 inches total from March 1st thru May 31st.

Snowfall for Mansfield Lahm Airport measured 7.2 inches over those 3 months. That's 3.2 inches below average.
