MIAMI, Fla. - You've heard the saying, "What's in a name." Well, plenty when it comes to naming hurricanes. The National Hurricane Center in Miami has released its annual list of storm names.
Hurricane season starts June 1 and the first storm will be named Andrea. That will be followed by Barry, Chantal, Dorian, Erin, Fernand and so on.
The list alternates between boy and girl names. You can read the complete list of names at nhc.noaa.gov.
By the way, the name "Sandy" was retired from the list of hurricane names after last year's devastating storm that roared ashore on the East Coast. Its effects were even felt in northeast Ohio.
