The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement in effect from 4 a.m. Sunday through late Sunday night.

NWS in Cleveland issued the statement for a high swimming risk. The risk is targeted at beaches off Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, Ashtabula and Erie counties.

A high risk of swimming hazard means large waves and dangerous conditions are expected, NWS said, including rip and longshore currents. Conditions are life-threatening and people should stay out of the water, even if you believe you are a good swimmer.
