90 Degree Weather: As Summer ends, the heat was hard to find this year.

CLEVLEAND - Lots of folks are asking me: "Where was summer this year?" To be fair, there were many warm days, and even a few hot ones.

In Cleveland we average 8 days 90+ degree per summer. Akron & Canton average about 6 per year. Believe it or not, we've had 8 days of 90+ degrees in Greater Cleveland this summer. That's right at average. Akron & Canton have logged 7 90 degree days this year. That's one above the norm.

What most people remember about this past summer is the LACK of sustained heat during the heart of Summer, late July and August. Indeed there were no 90 degree days from July 19th to the 10th of September. That's 8 weeks.

As for the latest 90 degree day ever in Cleveland? October 6th of  1946, we hit 90 degrees. In Akron & Canton, it was September 30th, 1953. for the latest 90 degree day ever.

When we add up the 90 degree days per season, a few years really stand out!

In 1952 & 1955, we hit 90 degrees or higher on 37 separate days!

Here's a list of exceptionally hot summer years with days at 90 degrees or above on the thermometer:
