Forecast: Dry & cool Thursday

CLEVELAND - 8:00 pm Update: Skies are partly to mostly cloudy now across the area. Lake effect clouds have formed downwind of Lake Erie and are most concentrated from Cleveland east. Temperatures are hovering in the middle and upper 30s.

Low temperatures tonight will drop into the middle and upper 20s under partly cloudy skies. More sunshine is in store for Thursday as high pressure dominates the region. Highs will jump into the lower and middle 40s.

The next wave of low pressure will arrive from the southwest on Friday afternoon. Scattered showers are likely, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. Milder air will move in ahead of the low as well. So, temperatures should once again approach the 50 degree mark in many spots.

Rain is likely on and off Friday night through Saturday morning. Then, with drier air speeding in, we'll see a brief shot of sunshine during the Saturday afternoon. High temperatures again will close in on 50 degrees.

Saturday night and Sunday morning will be dry. Another wave of low pressure will slide our way Sunday afternoon and evening. That means more afternoon rain showers on Sunday with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

10:00 a.m. Update: Clouds are still lingering this morning, but I'm already starting to see clearing south and west of Cleveland. Expect sunshine in most areas later today. Highs will be just shy of 40 degrees this afternoon, but with the breeze it will feel even colder.

Don't leave the house without a coat this morning! Temperatures are in the 30s under cloudy skies.

Clouds will gradually clear this morning, especially west of Cleveland. Clouds may linger on the east side through early afternoon. I can't rule out an isolated snow shower near the Pennsylvania state line.

Despite afternoon sun, highs won't climb above 40 degrees. That's over 20 degrees cooler than the past two days!

Building high pressure over the Midwest will keep the sky mostly clear tonight. Lows will drop to the mid-20s across Northeast Ohio.

High pressure shifts east Thursday, allowing slightly warmer air to move in from the south. Highs will hover in the mid-40s.

An approaching cold front will trigger a chance of rain Friday, especially in the afternoon and evening. That front will stall over Central Ohio, before moving north Saturday as a warm front. Temperatures Friday and Saturday will be near 50 degrees.

A few showers are possible Sunday under mostly cloudy skies. A stronger cold front finally arrives next Monday, dropping highs back to the 30s. Lake effect snow showers will follow the front through early Wednesday.
