Forecast: Much colder air settling in for the weekend along with snow showers

CLEVELAND - You can connect with Trent on Facebook and Twitter , he has updates throughout the day!

Evening Update: Scattered moderate still falling across northern Ohio. Overnight a weak cold front will fuel more snow so we can expect this to continue through much of the night. Areas along the lakeshore could see another couple inches by sunrise Sunday. Winds will shift back to the west Sunday keeping any snow east of Cleveland. Plan on another cold day Sunday as temps hover in the lower 20s all day.

6:46 pm Update: Some areas are reporting a quick 1-3" with this evening's snow. This is a quick burst of moderate snow so be prepared. If you are driving this evening, visibility could drop quickly in the heaviest snow. Untreated roads are getting slick also. Take it easy this evening and plan for a cold and snowy night.

5:54 pm Update: A quick 1-1.5" likely as a wave of moderate to heavy snow pushes through northern Ohio. Drive safe on the rod and give road crews plenty of space to clear them. Untreated roads will likely get slick.

4:42 pm Update: Scattered light and moderate snow will continue into the evening. Most areas will see another inch before it moves out. Untreated road will get slick while the snow is falling but main roads should be ok. If you are heading out, take the boots and heavy winter coats, temps will drop into the teen before midnight. Another cold night ahead.

Afternoon Update: Scattered light snow showers will continue to slide east through northern Ohio. Accumulations, so far, are mainly less than an inch. Isolated areas could have up to 2" through the rest of the day. Plan on localized slick roads and sidewalks. Temperatures will range from 25-29 degrees the rest of the day with wind chills holding in the teens.

Midday Update: Temperatures are staying cold despite the sunshine. We'll hover in the middle 20s all afternoon as cold air settles in. Our next wave of light snow will move in this evening. Expect accumulations to stay near 1" through Sunday morning. The bigger weather story is the cold air, stay bundled and dress in layers, especially the kiddos!

Arctic air settling in for the weekend will bring more than just cold air, light snow likely for the next couple days also. Any accumulations should stay minor though, I don't expect any major impacts on the weekend. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, we'll be tracking isolated light snow showers adding up to 1-3" of fresh snow by Sunday night.

Along with the light snow, struggling temperatures will keep it winter-like through the weekend. Afternoon highs will be in the middle 20s today followed by a quick drop into the teens overnight. Sunday will be another cold day with highs in the lower and middle 20s.

We do get a break Monday though as warmer air tried to push in, most of us will see lower 40s before our next storm moves in. Rain switching to snow likely Tuesday and into Wednesday as another push of cold arctic air settles in.
