Evening Update: North winds will help give us a comfortable evening as temps gradually cool to near 70 by midnight. Scattered thunder and heavy rain is likely after midnight but should clear out by noon Sunday. Keep the water and sunscreen around Sunday afternoon!
Afternoon Update: Thanks to a nice and cool lake, temps lakeside have struggled to warm much today. Thermometers are stuck on the middle and upper 70s along Lake Erie but inland areas are well into the 80s. Isolated storms possible anywhere we hit the 80s. Keep an eye on the sky this evening or on our Weather App!
Midday Update: A cluster of heavy rain and thunder will push through northeast Ohio through mid-day as temps continue to warm to the south. Expect upper 80s this afternoon across inland areas with middle 80s lakeside. Another round of storms is possible this afternoon in areas that miss out on the first round. Keep the sunscreen on because the sunshine and heat will still dominate the forecast today.
A stalled out cold front will lift north sparking another round of storms this afternoon. That boundary will also be enhanced by a lake breeze. Temperatures south of the front will be pushing near 90 degrees while areas along the lake will hold in the middle 80s.
Expect isolated storms to pop this afternoon and ride eastward along the front. Overnight another complex will along ride the front closer to the lakeshore. These will all clear out by noon Sunday, leaving behind another hot & humid afternoon. Temps Sunday will be pushing near 90 degrees with Memorial Day Monday highs in the lower 90s!
The record hottest Memorial Day in Cleveland in 90 degrees, my forecast for this year is 92. As beaches and parks fill up for the weekend, be sure to bring water and sunscreen to safely enjoy the weather.
