Forecast: Showers arrive Monday night into Tuesday morning

CLEVELAND - 9:30 pm Update: Mother Nature is teasing us. Mild temperatures will remain in place for the next couple of days. But winter is coming by the end of the week!

Evening temperatures will fall back  to near 40 degrees by 8pm. Skies will remain cloudy. Shower chances will increase as well. Lots of rain showing up now on the Power of 5 Doppler Network radar in Central and Southern Ohio. Showers are moving northeast and will arrive across the entire area tonight. Low temperatures will fall back into the upper 30s by dawn.

Weak cold front pulls east very quickly on Tuesday. A brief rain shower is possible during the morning hours. Skies will remain mostly cloudy during the afternoon. Highs will hover in the lower 40s.

Wednesday looks dry with partly cloudy skies. Highs once again will climb back into the middle 40s. The next and stronger cold front will arrive during the afternoon and evening on Thursday. We will be on the warm side of the system at first. That means rain showers Thursday afternoon and evening. Winds will also begin to pick up, becoming gusty late in the day. A Wind Advisory may be needed for parts of the region. Highs will move up to near 50 degrees.

Once the front goes by, cold air begins to move in quickly. Friday will be windy, & much colder. Isolated snow showers are possible during the day, but winds will remain southwest for a while, preventing any lake effect snow. Highs will hang in the lower and middle 30s.

Winds do switch around to the northwest Friday evening and overnight. That should set the stage for some accumulating Lake effect snow, mainly east of Cleveland Friday night and Saturday morning. Highs Saturday will hover in the lower 30s.

Showers are creeping closer, mainly across the south. Before the rain arrives, we'll see cloudy skies through the afternoon. Rain should move in by dinner time, mainly across the south.

Clouds and mild temperatures will greet you this morning. Most areas are in the mid-40s.

Temperatures will rise to the upper 40s by lunchtime and hold steady this afternoon.

Low pressure riding along a slow-moving front will approach Northeast Ohio later today. Expect rain to increase in southern counties this evening.

Rain is likely overnight as low pressure moves east. Colder air will filter overhead, dropping temperatures to the upper 30s early Tuesday.

I can't rule out snow showers mixing with rain Tuesday morning, but most precipitation will be over by noon. Tuesday's highs will hit the low-to-mid 40s.

After a dry Wednesday, another area of low pressure approaches from the south Thursday. Temperatures will soar to 50 degrees and rain is likely. Behind this strong system, much colder air will dive across the Great Lakes through Sunday.

Snow showers are likely Friday with lake effect snow showers continuing Saturday east of Cleveland. Sunday will be dry and cool with highs in the mid-30s.
