Forecast: Highs in 40s Wednesday

CLEVELAND - 9:00 pm Update:  A chilly evening is shaping up across the area. Temperatures will hover in the upper 30s. Skies will be mostly cloudy and I can't rule out an isolated snow flurry or two.

Overnight low temperatures will drop back into the lower & middle 30s. A few flurries or sprinkles are possible tonight as a weak wave of low pressure crosses Ohio.

Wednesday will stay dry. Clouds will mix with sunshine during the day. Temperatures will average a few degrees above normal. We'll see highs near 45 degrees.

A strong cold front approaches the area on Thursday. Rain showers are likely during the day. Winds will pick up as well, gusting above 35 mph at times by late in the day. Highs will climb into the lower 50s.

The front moves by early Friday. Widely scattered snow showers are likely during the day. It will be windy and cold with highs in the lower 30s. Lake effect snow will likely develop across parts of Northeast Ohio late Friday through at least Saturday morning. Several inches of snow are possible where snow showers persist. Stay tuned!

Seeing a mix of clouds and some sun this afternoon with temps in the low 40s. We could see some light snow overnight tonight as a weak disturbance moves through. No accumulations expected.

Low pressure is moving through southern New York this morning. As cooler air wraps in behind the storm, temperatures will drop to the upper 30s through 11 a.m. Morning rain and drizzle will gradually end by lunchtime.

Expect a chance of showers east of Cleveland this afternoon. I can't rule out wet snowflakes mixing with the rain, but I don't expect much. Highs will hover in the low 40s.

Wednesday will be quiet and dry, but a stronger low pressure system will take aim at Ohio Thursday. Expect areas of heavy rain and mild temperatures Thursday afternoon. By Thursday evening, much colder air will dive across the Great Lakes and change rain showers to snow showers. It will be very windy and chilly.

Snow showers continue Friday with highs struggling to reach the mid-30s.

Lake effect snow showers are possible Saturday in the Snowbelt. Weekend highs will stay in the low-to-mid 30s.
