9:42 pm Update: Temps have dropped quickly with a partly cloudy night sky. Area-wide we are in the 20s with teens showing up around Wayne County. Stay warm this evening and get ready for the snow to return. We'll see our first snowflakes after 3am with widespread light to moderate snow by sunrise. Expect another 2-4 inches of new snow by Saturday afternoon.
3:16 pm Update: Expect increasing clouds this evening and eventually snow showers after midnight. By sunrise Saturday, most of Ohio will have at least a dusting to 2" on the ground and by noon we'll be measuring more in the 2-4" range. This will push east and out of Ohio through the afternoon but temperatures stay cold through the rest of the weekend.
Noon Update: Temperatures have only climbed a few degrees from morning lows. Lunchtime temperatures will hang in the upper 20s with highs briefly touching freezing. Some areas may stay below freezing all day.
Snow is still on track early Saturday. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Tuscarawas County until 1 p.m. Saturday. 2-4" of snow will accumulate there. Elsewhere, expect 1-3" of accumulation through early Saturday afternoon.
Morning temperatures are in the teens west of I-71 and low-to-mid 20s east under mostly cloudy skies.
High pressure will keep weather quiet and dry today. Highs will hover around freezing. If you're attending evening events, dry weather is in the forecast through midnight.
Low pressure will move into southern Ohio early Saturday. Snow will increase in Tuscarawas and Holmes Counties by 2 a.m. Snow will gradually move north, reaching Summit County by 3 a.m. and lakeshore counties by 4 a.m.
As the low quickly moves east, snow will end by noon in most areas. Expect 1-3" of accumulation. Scattered snow showers will follow through the evening.
As low pressure moves off the East Coast, colder air will spill across the Great Lakes. Lake effect snow showers will persist Saturday night through Sunday afternoon, mainly east of Cleveland. Additional accumulations are likely.
