COLUMBUS, Ohio, 11:34 a.m. EDT February 25, 200 -- Ohio's Division of Unclaimed Funds has just released the names of the lucky people who will be a little richer this year.

NewsChannel5 reports that more than 2 million people in Ohio have money coming to them, totaling $216 million dollars.

According to a press release from the Ohio Department of Commerce, these accounts consist of monies or the right to monies that have been dormant or forgotten, usually for five years.

Some common examples of unclaimed funds include: dormant checking and savings accounts, forgotten rent and utility deposits, uncashed checks, undelivered stock certificates, uncashed insurance policies and forgotten layaway deposits.

One local woman was thrilled when she found out that she was going to receive unexpected cash.

"$26,000 is a lot of money for poor people and that's me," Luciene, a 65-year-old who will retire this year, said.

Gary C. Suhadolnik, director of the Ohio Department of Commerce, announced Wednesday that the department will publish its annual list of Cuyahoga County unclaimed funds owners in The Plain Dealer on Feb. 27.

"This special insert will be a quick and easy way for current or former Cuyahoga County residents to check their names for unclaimed funds," Suhadolnik said.

The listed accounts were turned over to the state within the past year, according to the press release. The names will appear in alphabetical order by the owner's last known city and then in alphabetical order by the owner's last name.

The Department of Commerce said that individuals and organizations whose names are listed should submit the coupon that is contained in the ad. Once the division receives the submitted coupon, a claim form will be mailed, asking the respondent to provide evidence in support of the claim.
