A man is sentenced to 18 years in prison in connection with the death of a man outside a downtown bar.

Walter Triplett Jr., 28, was convicted Monday of felonious assault in the death of 22-year-old Michael Corrado, of Mentor.

The jury could not reach a verdict on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, resulting in a hung jury on that charge.

In April, Triplett punched Corrado in the head outside the Barley House, located near West 6th Street and St. Clair. Corrado fell to the ground and hit his head, later dying at MetroHealth Medical Center.

The coroner ruled his death a homicide.

Triplett will be sentenced on Tuesday and faces up to 18 years in prison.
