Lockdown Lifted At Area School

Police Arrest Suspects In Game Store Theft

Bedford High School was put under lockdown for a short time Tuesday afternoon as police looked for a theft suspect.

Police said someone stole an Xbox 360 from a Game Stop store on Rockside Road. The thief was said to have run toward an apartment complex and the school.

The principal initiated a lockdown after a school employee saw someone going up a set of stairs in the school wearing pants that appeared muddy.

Officers and staff searched the school and reviewed surveillance video, which showed someone running away from the school. The lockdown was cancelled.

Police said a custodian later questioned a person behind the football stadium, who kicked the custodian and ran away.

Police later caught up with the suspect, who had gotten into a car. Police arrested 16-year-old Timothy Helm and 18-year-old Lender Hunter, both of Maple Heights.

Charges are pending.
