Troubleshooter Salon Solution

Pamela Fritz and a dozen other hair stylists told NewsChannel 5 they were promised their jobs were secure. But this past Christmas, Maxelle's in Parmatown went bust after four decades in business.

Fritz said, "She never told us the truth. I have been here 23 years and I just wish she would have told us the truth. We would all have been happy. But employees who lost their jobs and benefits were far from happy. "I'm a single mom. I'm going to get upset. I don't have that kind of money," said employee Geralyn Chesbro, a former Maxelle's employee.

Chesbro also told me she's been owed back pay, and she's been left with an $800 medical bill, after her health insurance was cut, all the while Maxelle's continued to take deduct medical insurance deductions from her check.

Customers of Maxelle's were left with useless gift certificates when the salon abruptly closed. Former employees told me Maxelle's owner Alice Kramhoeller knew what she was doing when she took the money.

When I asked Kramhoeller about the money that is owed to former employees and customers, Kramhoeller said she was in the process of paying back employees. Joe Pagonakis, NewsChannel 5 Troubleshooter.
