Thrill Seekers Must Be Taller To Ride Cedar Point Coaster

POSTED: 8:23 am EDT May 23, 2007
UPDATED: 8:41 am EDT May 23, 2007

Cedar Point Amusement Park said shorter riders may be banned from riding the newest coaster.

Officials said that when the Maverick opens next month, the height requirement will be 52 inches, instead of 48.

The ride's manufacturer, IntaRide, made the decision after pre-ride testing.

Although the park is now open, the Maverick is still having some minor problems repaired.

Replacement track sections for the Maverick arrived from Europe on Tuesday. After they are installed, more testing will be done before the ride opens.

Park officials hope to have it rolling by early June.
