NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio - Several cars were involved in a two separate crashes on the Ohio Turnpike in North Royalton Friday night
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the pileups happened in the westbound lanes at about 7:30 p.m. and a few semi-trucks were involved.
No one was seriously injured, troopers said. One person was taken by paramedics to Southwest General Health Center.
"I've been sitting here for about two and half hours, sitting in traffic, waiting for traffic to clear," driver Jerry McEmtee said. "It's been pretty causal. People getting out of their cars, walking around back and forth. Letting their kids out because the kids are getting pretty antsy… Just trying to bide their time. We're all trapped. There's nowhere we can go."
"Most of the cars are turned off. Everybody's trying to conserve gas. The diesels are still running. They gotta run," McEmtee said.
All lanes were reopened just before 10 p.m.
The crashes remain under investigation by the patrol.
