Fatal crash on Route 422 in Solon causes major traffic backup, driver's name released

SOLON, Ohio - A Streetsboro man died in a cement truck rollover crash on Route 422 in Solon Thursday, causing long delays for drivers in the area.

The crash happened at about 2:55 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Route 422 near Harper Road.

Solon police said the driver of the cement truck, 43-year-old Sandor Szachury, lost control for an unknown reason, causing the truck to roll over several times and trap the driver inside.

Emergency crews removed Szachury from the truck, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

""The truck involved, a 1998 Ford cement truck, is owned by Associated Associates Ready Mix Concrete of Mantua, Ohio. It was partially loaded with concrete at the time of the accident and heavily damaged," said Solon police in a news release.

No other vehicles were involved. Investigators aren't sure what caused the crash. They're asking for any witnesses to contact them at 440-248-1234.

Police said Route 422 westbound traffic was being diverted around the crash via the westbound exit/entrance ramps. The backup caused long delays on Route 422, Harper Road and SOM Center Road, but all lanes reopened at about 8:30 p.m.
