TOWNSEND TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on US 6 east of milepost 26 in Townsend Township in Sandusky County.
Troopers at the scene reported a 1994 Buick LeSabre traveling eastbound approaching the intersection of CR 260 went left of center and struck head on a 2000 Mack Commercial Truck traveling westbound.
They said both vehicles went off the south side of the highway before coming to a rest.
The driver of the LeSabre was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim will be released once family has been notified.
Vehicles headed westbound on US 6 will be diverted southbound on SR 269 in Erie County to SR 101. Drivers going eastbound toward the Sandusky area will be diverted southbound on SR 510 to SR 412.
Troopers are being assisted at the scene by Sandusky County Sheriff's Department, Clyde Fire Department, Sandusky County EMS, EPA, ODOT, and Madison Motors.
