A student at a Cleveland elementary school has a confirmed case of swine flu.

The Cleveland Department of Public Health informed the district that a student at Miles Park Elementary School was diagnosed with H1N1, also known as swine flu.

The district is sending letters home Thursday alerting parents to the situation and parents will also be notified through the district's automated phone messaging system.

The letter will also include appropriate flu precautions. Since April, CMSD administrators and staff have been educating parents and students on H1N1 symptoms, preventative measures and the importance of staying home when sick.

The sick child is not back at school yet, and the school is remaining open.
