A bridge in Kent has been closed after a train derailed beneath it Thursday afternoon.

Police said approximately seven freight train cars derailed on the CSX tracks under the Crain Avenue bridge, and the bridge abutments were struck.

Police said the train was carrying coal and there are no known hazardous material concerns.

The bridge was closed to ensure motorist safety. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area.
