Standoff With Police Chief Ends

POSTED: 3:43 pm EST November 20, 2008
UPDATED: 5:23 pm EST November 20, 2008

The Medina County sheriff's department said a standoff with the Brunswick Hills police chief has come to an end without incident.

The standoff took place at Chief Robert Oseicki's Lonetree Court home.

The sheriff said the chief, who had been on paid administrative leave, had barricaded himself inside the home alone.

The sheriff described the negotiation process as friendly and respectful. He also said Oseicki made demands that could not be met.

Neighbors said it may have had to do with Oseicki's job situation, and one neighbor said Oseicki had been dismissed Thursday.

The sheriff said Oseicki will be taken to a hospital for evaluation and it will then be determined what charges, if any, will be filed against him.
