A judge on Thursday sentenced a Cleveland man to 15 years in prison for causing a crash that killed a 1-year-old girl in Lakewood last spring.

Clement Andera, 38, was convicted Wednesday on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and driving under the influence.

Police said that Andera drove his truck onto the sidewalk of Madison Avenue in Lakewood in April, killing Jaylah Tate and injuring her 5-year-old sister, Marri Dickerson, and their 15-year-old cousin, Kahdeeja Samir.

Prosecutors said Andera was under the influence of diazapam and hydrocodone.

He faced a maximum of 18 years in prison.
