Roof Jumper Nearly Falls Through Bank Skylight

A Lorain man attempting to jump from building to building nearly crashed into a bank Tuesday night.

Police said Angel Cordona, 24, and a 16-year-old boy were attempting to jump across buildings between Broadway Avenue and Black River Parkway.

They said Cordona was jumping onto the Lorain National Bank building at about 5:30 p.m. when he broke through a skylight on the roof.

Police were called to the bank on suspicion of a break in. Officers found two people walking down the street, one with a video camera. Cordona and the teen were climbing off the bank roof.

Police said the group was videotaping Cordona make the jump. However, when he landed on the bank roof, he thought it was concrete, but several panes of glass from the skylight broke under his feet.

His friend pulled him off the skylight before he fell through. The drop is 40 feet to the bank lobby.

About $1,000 in damages was done to the skylight.

The teenager was cited for delinquency by reason of criminal trespass and criminal damaging, while Cardona was cited for criminal trespass and criminal damaging.
